How long have you been with WinWin?
I joined WinWin in February 2003.
What is your background?
I primarily have a business background. I
worked primarily in MIS then decided one day that I'd really rather
program. During one of my stints as the Director of
MIS somewhere, I discovered Rev G, thought it was the greatest
and then when Arev came out, it was love at first sight. I
was a partner in a company specializing in developing Arev apps. Later,
when I sold my interest in the company, I went to work for Revelation
Technologies as the Manager of Technical Support for the Applications
Division. After that division was sold to Ceridian, I worked
for several consulting firms and realized that this was what I
really enjoyed because
of the variety that projects provided. Just prior to joining
WinWin, I was Director of MIS for a liberal arts college but left
that because college life was at a much slower pace that I was
used to traveling. Since joining WinWin, I've been doing
what I really love; and the pace is anything but slow!
What is your current position/Title at WinWin?
Senior Consultant.
What is your favorite thing about working for
WinWin?
It would have to be the people here. I knew Mike, Nancy,
Bob and Katie prior to joining WinWin so joining them was like
coming to work and picking up where I left off with old friends
that I hadn’t seen in a while. The other people
became fast friends within the context of the WinWin family. I
enjoy the variety of assignments which include both client
projects and learning new technologies.
What
project(s) are you currently working on?
In addition to working with the Linux version
of OpenInsight (OIL) and working towards my LPI certification,
I continue to
provide support and work on current projects. My latest
project is an OpenInsight system that allows a research firm
to monitor research studies and participants and track them from
inception to completion. It also allows them to qualify
candidates for inclusion in the studies. The system was
designed to centralize data so that all the project managers
would be able to share it in one location. Prior to this,
their data was all over the place in many different locations
and in different formats. It is very exciting because the
system started out a small subset of what it has grown into. The
client has been there every step of the way through its evolution. Even
though we’ve seen it grow together, I still that feel it’s
my baby.
During
your time at WinWin, what has been your toughest project?
I can’t think of any one project that I would label as
tough as they’ve all presented different challenges and
opportunities. I like this type of work because there is
always something new right coming around the corner.
How do YOU gauge
success?
If the client feels that their objectives
have been met or exceeded, and their budgetary requirements have
been met, then we‘ve been successful.
What do you do to keep your creativity level at its peak?
Try to learn the new technologies that the company
will be working in or could be working with. For me, with the introduction
of OpenInsight for Linux (OIL) it’s Linux.
How do you keep up with what's going
on in your industry/profession?
Mostly trade journals, web sites and keeping abreast of the business
news.
What outside interests do you have?
Trucks, toy trains, guitars and cycling. |
